Simon Beswick
This year’s award goes to Simon Beswick whose vision has transformed Osborne Clarke into one of the UK’s top performing law firms. Even more impressively, he has recently turned his attention beyond the UK and transformed the firm again – into a rapidly expanding international player. Perhaps most impressively, Simon has achieved this, alongside a host of other innovations, without diluting the firm’s culture. That gives it a truly distinctive brand and feel everywhere it operates. Perhaps more importantly, it means that the firm, if recent surveys are anything to go by, is stuffed full of happy people. As if that didn’t keep him busy enough, he also finds time to keep up his many relationships with managing partners at other firms, contribute to industry forums and even play a little football. That he does all of this – apart from the football, of course – from a standard desk in one of the firm’s open plan offices tells you a great deal about this year’s winner.
